Cricket

As I type, India is 162/9 against Bangladesh, and Pakistan is 100/6 against Ireland. And I don't care.

I always thought I was a cricket fan and not a football fan, but I enjoyed last year's football World Cup and I find it difficult to give a toss about the ongoing cricket cup. It doesn't help that my two least favourite teams are the top two seeds and ranked far ahead of everyone else.

If they do meet in the final, I hope Ricky Ponting head-butts Andre Nel at a crucial stage because Nel insulted Ponting's sister. That may redeem things a bit.

Pakistan lost. And they are (almost?) out of the tournament. Yay! India should celebrate ...

I agree with you on this World Cup's non-appeal. Even after the unexpected (and exciting) news from yesterday, it's still pretty unappetizing.

This world cup should be the best ever, given the large number of teams and the excellent performance of some of them so far. I guess in my case it's just an overdose of cricket, annoyance at our overpaid, overhyped and perennially underperforming team, and lingering cynicism from the match-fixing scandal.

And I wish our ex-cricketers like Gavaskar would shut up too. Whatever became of respecting the dead?
